FWA staff including Criminal Justice workers  visit The Rowan (Sexual Assault Centre for NI), to see at first hand the services provided to individuals who have experienced sexual abuse.

Launch of Teenlink

June – Launch of Teenlink with fun day at Ashleywood. Representatives from partners Zakkon and Social services also attended. Local radio station Drive 105 broadcast from the event

PSNI start a 6 month trial of body worn cameras

PSNI start a 6 month trial of body worn cameras in the Foyle District. 70 officers across the district will wear them.

New Criminal Justice Strategy launched

September – Ashleywood house hosted an event where a new Criminal Justice Strategy was launched and also the PSNI body cameras were demonstrated. In attendance were PSNI Inspector Jonny Hunter, District Judge Barney McElholm, Victim Support Manager Gillian Clifford and 24hr Helpline Manager Sonya McMullan

Supporting People Launch awareness campaign

November – In conjunction with the UN’s 16 Days of Action, Supporting People Launch an awareness campaign – ‘Let’s Keep on Supporting People’

Women’s Aid Progress With OSKA Database

OSKA database system progressed in partnership with Causeway, North Down & Ards and Omagh Women’s Aids.

2015

Family Justice Centres Europe release documentary

Family Justice Centres Europe release a documentary on how important an all in one justice centre is, featuring interviews with domestic abuse victims from different countries in Europe including Derry.  Also interviews with Marie Brown Judge Barney McElholm, Mayor Brenda Stevenson and various others who work in pilot family justice centres.

FWA attend Family Justice Centers Europe Conference

January – Marie Brown and Jo Corcoran from FWA along with Mayor of Derry Brenda Stevenson , got to Brussels to attend a Family Justice Centers Europe Conference on the ‘Daphne III’ Project, which is to prevent and combat violence against children, young people and women and to protect victims at risk.

The Heritage Lottery Fund award a grant of £1.4 million

March – The Heritage Lottery Fund award a grant of £1.4 million towards the transformation of the old Sister of Mercy Convent in Pump Street into a new Family Justice Centre
